In Jan 2015 newer 5 GHz Ubiquiti gear was found to be using new Atheros Chips, the AR9342 chip, where as the older gear was AR724X. So far there is no broad band hamnet firmware builds for the XW hardware.

Bob was one of the first unlucky people who received one 5 GHz Nanostation with the older chip and one with the newer. He ordered this stuff just after Christmas 2014.

Also we tried to link to Scrays from the Cave this weekend, this time using a 15 dBi dish, still no go. There were like 20+ MAC addresses on channel 1 at the cave. So 2.4 GHz is looking to be pretty useless at this point. I wish they would resolve this XW problem that affects 5 GHz, as I'd like to experiment with 5 GHz, because that seems the way to go.
