TINYTRAK3 SMT

I'm thinking about using a TT3-SMT to put in a RS HTX-202 battery pack and a Byonics GPS2OEM module for the GPS receiver/patch antenna, so I can have everything in the battery pack.
The plan was to supply the radio from an external 12v 7AH SLA and tap off that for power to the tracker. Not sure how effective this set up would be inside a vehicle though.

My second thought is to just go with a TT3 and an external Byonics GPS5 RX & Ant.
Any ideas?

Picked up a couple small, high sensitivity, gps modules - http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-UART-Serial ... 4d00cb0a33 - from a guy in Sheboygan. They'll need a max232 level converter to speak rs232 levels, but that's easy enough. Way cheaper than the byonics/argent data gps units.

Planning on mounting it in a small tool box http://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/plano-c ... 0000017925 along with a tinytrak3, maxtrac and small sla battery.

That looks like the best/cheapest way to go. $36 for TT3+ Kit, $22 for the GPS/ANT & $5 for Max232 TTL converter. Should all fit in the HTX-202 battery case!

If you want to do it without a tracker board. Take a look at this post:

Bob details how he set up an I-Gate, using a USB sound devices instead of a TNC or hardware tracker board. You should be able to adapt this to a tracker instead of an I-gate

The TinyTrak3+ will do TTL levels with the GPS. No MAX232 needed

Also in the Tracker3 family is the T3-Micro - https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/prod ... cts_id=170

Miniature size and built in GPS receiver. Downside that it's powered via the USB port at 5 volts.
