Allstar &

Post by kb9mwr » Fri Dec 05, 2025 1:15 pm

The latest projects here have been mostly allstar related.

Node 43193 is connected to a Kenwood TM-V71, as a frequency agile remote base... I will work on having the radio pretuned to channels with nets for the mentally challenged.

Ch macros so far;

43337 is connect to a low band Maxtrac that has been converted to 6 meters, parked on 52.525

And an EIA to N connector

I think the network daemon version doesn't work this is rigctrld. I can connect to it on port 2532, but I never get anything back.
It would be nice to let the remote user know what channel/freq the radio is presently tuned to. I was going to have a web page that would show this using the same stuff I was doing with my receive only IC-706. So the only way to determine that is
from rigctrl
"rigctl -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -m 2035 m" to return the channel number or an "f" at the end for the frequency.
I don't think there is a way to announce this upon connect to just the remote user and not also over the air with allstar?

Does the low band maxtrac have the 16 pin accessory and channel steering feature? Some type of pi gpio -> maxtrac interface would be neat.
FCARC hosts a monthly net on 52.550, so being able to adjust channels could be useful.

I haven't dug into the workings of allstar in awhile, but I think the incoming connection (caller) gets put into a conference bridge with the radio interface (called node), then the connection announcement is played to the conference. All parties in the conference hear the announcement. I think a radio status announcement to just the caller would have to get played to the caller before adding them to the conference. Buried somewhere in extensions.conf should be the call flow where a macro reference could be added.

I'll have to add that freq. it's 16 pin, not sure if there is a channel steer via that. (I think thats a GM300 thing.)

I now have the radio parked on that freq... will leave it there for a while. If there is life on 6 I'll consider the solution below.

Else this young man has a solution.
