LoRA the Ax.25 alternative
This looks like it could be a cheaper goTenna option: https://heltec.org/project/wifi-lora-32/ --Other LoRA stuff: Prior to play with 433 LoraWAN, you had to do it with an inexpensive Arduino shield. http://www.seeedstudio.com/Dragino-LoRa-Shield-support-433M-frequency-p-2672.html https://static1.sq...

Re: Fox Valley Packet Radio Node / BBS
Handful? One for each band, then channel bond them?
I might be interested in putting something on the air at some point.

Re: Zello on Linux
As Matt knows I have been trying to get this running, mostly for Bob as I believe he does a private scanner feed over Zello. https://forums.radioreference.com/threads/zello-feed-from-a-raspberry-pi.397574/page-2#post-3332366 Use the 2020-05-27-raspios-buster-full-armhf image... Zello on Linux
It looks like there is a way finally to stream audio for a Linux system to a Zello channel:
https://github.com/aaknitt/zellostream
I know a number of folks have been hoping for this vs using something like icecast (zello is more real time) for applications like streaming a scanner feed etc.

Back in the dial-up and early internet days the scan-wisc yahoo group was the s***. And Gary was the man for putting this collection of recordings of things you weren't quite sure what they were when you were scanning: https://web.archive.org/web/20080308054642/http://www.kb9ukd.com/digital/ (I am g...

Re: Safer At Home Projects
I have been working still, so no real extra time to take care of extra projects. It's been kind of slow at work, so I find extra time to doodle while I am there. A week or so back I had 2 yards of top soil dropped off to fill in the sunken areas from where I once had trees. I am contemplating planti...

I am toying with the idea of writing an article of sorts. I am not sure where is the best place to put this sort of thing. I was thinking about submitting it to TAPR's PSR. I have never seen anyone write about that sort of thing in that publication though. This is my starting draft: https://docs.goo...

AnyTone AT-D578IIIPRO Tri-Band Amateur DMR Mobile Radio
Posting this here for anyone else to drool over. I learned about this from some chatter on the local DMR talkgroup: https://www.bridgecomsystems.com/products/at-d578uv http://www.csi-radios.com/at-d578uviii-b/ It appears to be a true dual/tri band (ability to receive more than one band at a time, mu...
